A dynamic performer whose showmanship complements the tour de force he brings to both live performance and in the studio.

This veteran blues blaster’s seasoned skills span four decades of a career steeped in tradition with a reverence for the music which he has dedicated his life to. From the numerous bands that J has led to the many projects he’s produced, in tribute to the greatest masters and founding fathers of America’s world-renown musical export, this bluesman’s contributions have secured his rightful PLACE along side some of the finest players in the region.

J Place carries the flame that has burned for a hundred years righteously into a new millennium.

Clinton's musical career spans over five decades.

  • 70’s ~ Backing singer songwriters Shep, Greg Bennett & Janet Johnson. Backing the Drifters and touring with Freddie “Boom Boom” Cannon. Founding member of Black Pearl jazz quintet & performing in Deacon Jones & the Singing Stars gospel choir band. Member of Edna Jean & the Wild Country Band, Backing Jack Greene, Performing at Grand Ole Opry as New England winners of the first Wrangler Jeans Star Search. 
  • 80’s ~ Summer tour with Jimmy “Walkin’ By Myself” Rogers as the original Excellos bass player with Steve Guyger, George Lewis and Ola Dixon. Stovall Brown Band bass player (25 years), Backed up Madeleine Hall, "Earring George" Mayweather, Bo Diddely, Buddy Miles. Onstage with John Mayall, Roomful of Blues, Paul Butterfield, Junior Walker, James Cotton, Roy Buchanan, Johnny Clyde Copeland, Lonnie Mack, Neal Vitullo & the Vipers, Junior Walker, Tower of Power and many more.
  • 90s on ~ Band member & recorded with Stovall Brown, John Crawlin’ Snake Mac, the Joyrates, Hoodoo Revelator, Chicago Bob Nelson & Betty Harris. Gigged & toured with Shirley Lewis & Barrence Whitfield & the Savages. Onstage Performances with Susan Tedeschi, Cliff Goodwin, Barbecue Bob, Professor Harp, Radio Kings & Michelle Willson. Member of Cape Cod's Jimmy C's Real Deal featuring the likes of Joe Craig Jones, Kid Bangham and the late great Gene Taylor. 

Some of the artists Dave Armstrong has played with for over 3 decades include: Kim Wilson, James Harman, Darrell Nulisch, Troy Gonyea, Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish, Bluesdusters, Two Bones and a Pick, D.D. and the Road Kings, Tall Richard and the Night Owls, Kid Bangham, Danny Russo, Steve Guyger, Paul Oscher, Barbeque Bob, Maynard Silva, Hotel Seville and many others. One of the many cool gigs was playing for President Clinton on Martha's Vineyard with Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish. Dave is very dedicated to keeping the traditional style of Blues drumming alive. 


Bitten by the blues bug as a young man and couldn't turn back. Guitarist Darren King has a love for old school blues and roots. Based out of southeast MA, Darren has backed up numerous area harp players laying down his tasty style and keeping the tradition alive.
